"Is This My Art?" As it turns out there is a grey area in copy write infringement when you take a graphic or character and transpose it into a functional vessel. This is a piece that is built by making a mold of a plastic bowl I bought at Target for a few dollars. I poured porcelain, which I make into the mold, and then alter the porcelain after, so it looks nothing like the bowl. It is rimmed with 24k gold. Then I took two of my nephews favorite Nintendo characters and put them on a plate as if they were fighting in the popular game, "Super Smash Bros." The characters Link and Kirby are wearing Gucci and Louis Vuitton with some aloha. I traced the characters, modified them substantially, and what you have here is what is left over. At some point you might see artist represents self in Supreme Court in copy write infringement case; that would be me.
